From one tired mummy to another

The energy required to be a mummy is like a slow dripping tap. It doesn't look like much as You see one small droplet after another, but if You collected them all across the day it's a pretty big body of water.

Constant attention and care is required. Lose focus for a minute and something is bound to happen, or they are bound to come asking for focus.
The "activity" of care and attention is not always stimulating, in fact much of the time it is down right boring. What is exciting and stimulating and vital for the development of a growing one is not always stimulating for a grown one.

But if You give your energy and attention away to other, more stimulating, things it's not available in the reserve to give for the constant flow of the dripping tap. When my reserve dries up the energy is not there to drip .... not there to water the most important investment of my life, the one that will have the biggest, but most intangible, payoff ever. Payoffs that are unmeasurable, an investment that can't be resented when the payoffs don't seem to be real, an investment that seems unending.

Imagine the opportunity cost of not making the investment.
The payoffs are generational, the investment is not often returned to the investor, but to the investee. It's the hardest, most unselfish investment of all - "Great love has no one than this: to lay down his life for his friends".

But You have to survive, and even more than that; You have to thrive; to build your reserves and have an abundance to invest.

So what inspires You? What fills your energy tank? I love to hear some of your strategies!!! Part-time work? Hobby? Exercise? What works for You?

{Side note} When I was looking for a dripping tap picture the quote "a nagging wife is like a dripping tap" LOL. I kind of get the whole nagging thing when You drip energy to little ones all day, there is a tendency to try and share the joy LOL
